Liz joined our kindergarten in 2018, after seven years working as an early years primary teacher in Australia and abroad. Most recently, Liz was living and teaching in the remote Indigenous community of Lockhart River in Cape York. Liz grew up in Camp Hill and attended Norman Park Community Kindergarten in the early 90s. Liz will be teaching the Kookaburras. Liz enjoys being outdoors with the children, climbing trees, observing birds, animals and clouds, and building obstacle courses. She also enjoys visual arts, early phonics and literacy, and telling stories about her dog Daisy.

Akiko has been working in kindergartens and international schools for 14 years. Akiko has two children and an interest in art, science, music and yoga. As a parent to a child with special needs, Akiko is interested in learning to help children with additional needs such as ASD and giftedness.

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

 

Desley has been working in early childhood for 20 years in a variety of settings from childcare to stand-alone kindergartens, both private and community-run centres. Desley began at Norman Park Community Kindergarten in 2018. Desley is a passionate advocate for the arts in early childhood and has a keen interest in early literacy and in the educational programs of Reggio Emilia, Italy and Montessori. Desley is very proud of our Nature Kindergarten Program and looks forward to developing this and our outdoor master plan with our kindergarten community over the coming year.

Administration Assistant

Mel joined Norman Park Community Kindergarten in 2018 and has been working in kindergarten admin for six years. She supports the teaching staff and management committee and, of course, the parent community, on a part time basis, working two days a week.

Anne

Assistant | Teacher

Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) QUT

 

Anne commenced at Norman Park in 2009. With 11 years experience and Bachelor qualified, Anne enjoys music and singing with the children. Anne will be assisting with both the Kookaburras and Lorikeets. Anne loves connecting with families and being part of the Kindy community.

Masako joined Norman Park Kindy in 2020 and has been working as an Early Childhood Educator for 6 years, with a special interest in indoor and outdoor activities, nature play, art and craft and gardening with children. 

 

Masako loves spending time with her family; visiting the beach, gardening, creating art, travelling, walking, and cooking. 

Mrs Hennessy

House Mother

Jane (affectionately known as Mrs Hennessy) grew up in Seven Hills, Brisbane and still lives in the local area with her family. Jane has been at the kindy since 2009 as the House Mother. She has a love of books and music. Jane’s favourite part of the day is library and music time.
